BCLA's Continuing Education Committee presents:
Teaching and Training in a Library Setting with Kay Cahill

Workshop goals:

* To provide practical advice on creating and delivering interesting, engaging training sessions
* To explore different instructional styles to establish the best approach for instructor and audience
* To introduce strategies for dealing with common training challenges, including nervousness and training mixed ability groups

Who should participate:

This workshop will be of interest to anyone who is currently involved - or may be involved in the future - in training or programming in their library.

Description:

Training has become an integral part of our profession, whether providing instruction for patrons or other library staff. Working with adult learners creates a unique set of challenges, which can often seem quite daunting to the new or inexperienced trainer. This workshop will explore a variety of different instructional styles, tools and techniques for designing and delivering engaging training sessions, motivating your audience to learn, and overcoming common training challenges.
